BIOSPHERIC STUDIES AND TRANSDISCIPLINARY PRACTICES AROUND THE GLOBE

BIOSPHERIC STUDIES AND TRANSDISCIPLINARY PRACTICES AROUND THE GLOBE

A mycelium of people and projects cultivating a regenerative world for a synergetic civilisation

What is Academia Biospherica?

Academia Biospherica* is a growing network of innovative grassroots projects around the globe founded on the principles of  synergy and ‘learning by doing’. It offers digital and hands-on events, activities and learning opportunities with the vision of co-creating a regenerative world and a radiant future for our Biosphere.

For millennia, traditional academic learning methods have served to distance humanity from the natural and intercultural worlds. Through its programme of courses, workshops and events, Academia Biospherica promotes new forms of learning and interaction that are in alignment with our planet’s living systems – combining ecological restoration with far-reaching environmental education and actively encouraging cultural and artistic diversity.

Offered in collaboration with various partners, the programme operates within five of the earth’s main biomes: mountain, forest, desert, ocean and world city, and seeks to transmit the practices and know-hows needed to live creatively and self-sustainably in each of these biomes at this critical point in human re-evolution.

Our Network

The projects

Whether participating online, or onsite at one of the Academy’s allied projects, participants are offered a ‘synergetic’ learning experience that prioritises the acquisition of knowledge and skills grounded in practical experience.

Members also have access to a continuously evolving platform of shared data, ideas, interactions and educational content, along with the corresponding network of coordinates to navigate the platform.

If we are to take on the challenges of this century then it is time for our organisations and learning methods to leave the classroom and return to the nature that nurtures us: to the oceans, forests and mountains that are our home.

To this end, we must become truly biospheric – by transmitting to current and coming generations those resilient systems and core values that will allow our planet to flourish and thrive in all of its spheres. Let us embark upon this journey as stewards of the Biosphere.
